Congressional Medal of Honor, special license plates

Someone who has received the Congressional Medal of Honor can get special license plates that say 'CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR' on any vehicle they own, except big commercial trucks over 24,000 pounds. They apply with the director of revenue and show proof they got the medal. There is no extra fee beyond the normal registration fee, and there is no limit on how many sets of plates they can get as long as each set is for a vehicle they own.

301.145. Congressional Medal of Honor, special plates. — Any person who has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor may apply for special motor vehicle license plates for any vehicle he or she owns, either solely or jointly, other than weighing over twenty-four thousand , as provided in this section. Any such person shall make for the special license plates on a form provided by the and furnish such of receipt of the Congressional Medal of Honor as the may require. The director shall then license plates bearing the words "CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR" in a manner prescribed by the director of revenue. Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. There shall be no limit on the number of license plates any person qualified under this section may obtain so long as each set of license plates issued under this section is issued for vehicles owned solely or jointly by such person. License plates issued under this section shall not be to any other person except that any of the motor vehicle may operate the motor vehicle for the duration of the year licensed in the event of the death of the qualified person. There shall be no fee charged in addition to regular for license plates issued under this section.
