People who have a license (or need one) to deal in vehicles or vehicle parts must keep records for three years, but only for vehicles that are seven years old or newer. The records must show what vehicles or parts they got, where they came from, and what they did with them — like if they wrecked, took apart, or sold them.
301.225. to maintain s — inspection of . — Every person licensed or required to be licensed shall maintain for three years on vehicles not more than seven years old a record of:
(1) Every vehicle or used transmission, rear end, cowl, frame, body, front end assembly or engine of or for a vehicle received or acquired by him, its description and identifying number, if any, the date of its receipt or acquisition, and the name and address of the person from whom received or acquired;
(2) Every vehicle wrecked, dismantled or by him, and the date of its wrecking or dismantling and, if sold to a , the 's name and address.
