American Legion, special license plates

A person who is a member of the American Legion can get a special license plate with the American Legion emblem on it. To get the plate, the person pays $25 to the American Legion for permission to use the emblem, then pays a $15 fee plus regular registration fees to the state. If the person stops getting the emblem permission, their next plate will not have the emblem on it.

301.3062. American Legion, special s — , procedure, fees, design. — 1. Any vehicle owner who is a member of and has obtained an annual from the American Legion may apply for American Legion license plates for any motor vehicle the person owns, either solely or jointly, other than an or a d in excess of twenty-four thousand . The American Legion hereby authorizes the use of their official emblem to be on as provided in this section. Any vehicle owner may annually apply for the use of the emblem.

2. Upon annual application and payment of a twenty-five dollar emblem-use to the American Legion, the American Legion shall to the vehicle owner, without further charge, an emblem-use authorization statement, which shall be presented to the at the time of of a motor vehicle.

3. Upon presentation of the annual statement and payment of a fifteen dollar fee in addition to the regular and presentation of other documents which may be required by law, the department of revenue shall issue a to the vehicle owner, which shall bear the emblem of the American Legion in a form prescribed by the . Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. A fee for the of issued section 301.144 shall not be required for s issued pursuant to this section.

4. A vehicle owner, who was previously issued a plate with the American Legion emblem by this section but who does not provide an emblem-use authorization statement at a subsequent time of registration, shall be issued a new plate which does not bear the American Legion emblem, as otherwise provided by law.
