Legion of merit medal special license plate, procedure

A person who received the military award called the Legion of Merit can get special license plates for cars they own. They fill out a form and show proof they got the medal. The plates say "LEGION OF MERIT" and show a picture of the medal. There is an extra fee, the same as personalized plates. A person can get these plates for more than one car they own. If the plate holder dies, a co-owner of the car can keep using the plates until the year is up, but the plates cannot be passed to anyone else.

301.3158. Legion of merit medal special , procedure. — Any person who has been ed the military award known as the legion of merit medal may apply for special motor vehicle license plates for any motor vehicle such person owns, either solely or jointly, other than an or a d in excess of twenty-four thousand . Any such person shall make for the special license plates on a form provided by the and furnish such as a of the legion of merit medal as the may require. The director shall then license plates bearing or numbers or a combination thereof as determined by the established in section 301.129*, with the words "LEGION OF MERIT" in place of the words "SHOW-ME STATE". Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. Such s shall also bear an image of the legion of merit medal. There shall be an additional fee charged for each set of legion of merit license plates issued under this section equal to the fee charged for . There shall be no limit on the number of license plates any person qualified under this section may obtain so long as each set of license plates issued under this section is issued for vehicles owned solely or jointly by such person. License plates issued under the of this section shall not be to any other person except that any of the motor vehicle shall be entitled to operate the motor vehicle with such plates for the duration of the year licensed in the event of the death of the qualified person.
