Brain Tumor Awareness Organization special license plates, procedure

A person who pays a yearly fee to the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization can get special license plates for their car or truck (as long as it is not a very large commercial vehicle). The plates show the organization's emblem and say 'BRAINTUMORAWARENESS.ORG' instead of 'SHOW-ME STATE.' Before the state makes the plates, at least 200 people must sign up and pay for them.

301.475. Brain Tumor Awareness Organization special s, procedure. — 1. to the contrary, any person, after an annual payment of an to the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization, may receive special license plates for any motor vehicle the person owns, either solely or jointly, other than an or a d in excess of twenty-four thousand . The Brain Tumor Awareness Organization hereby authorizes the use of its official to be on as provided in this section. Any to the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization derived from this section, except reasonable , shall be used solely for the purposes of the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization. Any member of the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization may annually apply for the use of the emblem.

2. Upon annual and payment of a twenty-five dollar emblem-use contribution to the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization, the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization shall to the vehicle owner, without further charge, an , which shall be presented by the vehicle owner to the at the time of . Upon presentation of the annual statement and payment of a twenty-five dollar fee in addition to the regular , and presentation of any documents which may be required by law, the director of revenue shall issue to the vehicle owner a special license plate which shall bear the emblem of the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization. Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. In addition, upon such set of license plates shall be inscribed, the words "SHOW-ME STATE", the words "BRAINTUMORAWARENESS.ORG". the of section 301.144, no additional fee shall be charged for the of license plates issued this section.

3. A vehicle owner who was previously issued a with the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization's emblem by this section, but who does not provide an emblem-use authorization statement at a subsequent time of registration, shall be issued a new plate which does not bear the Brain Tumor Awareness Organization's emblem, as otherwise provided by law. The director of revenue shall make necessary for the of this section, and shall design all necessary forms required by this section.

4. Prior to the of a Brain Tumor Awareness Organization authorized under this section the must be in receipt of an application, as prescribed by the , which shall be accompanied by a list of at least two hundred potential applicants who plan to purchase the specialty plate, the proposed art design for the , and an application fee, not to exceed five thousand dollars, to defray the 's cost for issuing, developing, and programming the implementation of the specialty plate. Once the plate design is approved, the director of revenue shall not authorize the of the to produce such specialized license plates with the individual seal, logo, or emblem until such time as the director has received two hundred applications, the twenty-five dollar specialty plate fee per , and emblem-use statements, if applicable, and other required documents or fees for such plates.
