Lawful presence or citizenship, proof of to be presented once

In plain English

When someone applies for a Missouri driver's license or ID card, they only have to show proof of citizenship or legal status once. After that, they do not need to bring those same documents again for future applications. There are four exceptions: non-citizens may need to show their documents every time; the state can ask again if it thinks the person got their license through fraud; people applying for a commercial driver's license always need to show the documents; and the state can ask for the documents again to fix a known mistake on a license or ID.
