First-time licenses, information to receive
When someone gets their first driver's license in Missouri, the state gives them information about three things: the dangers of driving drunk or drugged, what to do during a traffic stop and how to act with police, and what rights drivers and passengers have during a traffic stop — like the right to stay silent, the right to a lawyer, and rules about searches. State officials work together to set up the rules for how this information is given out.
302.176. First-time s, to receive — . — 1. Upon successful completion of the requirements of this chapter to obtain a driver's license, all first-time in this state shall receive information from the relating to:
(1) The dangers of operating a motor vehicle while in an or drugged condition;
(2) Law procedures for traffic stops, the proper actions to be taken during a traffic stop, and interactions with law enforcement; and
(3) A description of drivers' and passengers' constitutional and other legal rights as they relate to a traffic stop, including but not limited to, , the right to remain silent, and the right to an attorney.
2. The shall, in consultation with the of the Missouri state patrol and of this state, and regulations to the of this section. Any or portion of a rule, as that term is defined in section 536.010, that is created under the in this section shall become effective only if it complies with and is subject to all of the provisions of and, if applicable, section 536.028.
