Driver's responsibility not to obstruct traffic

If a vehicle is blocking traffic on a state highway, the driver needs to try to move it out of the way. This does not apply if there was an accident where someone was hurt or killed. If a driver does not try to move the vehicle, they can be fined between ten and fifty dollars.

304.151. Driver's responsibility not to obstruct traffic — written warning, , . — 1. Except in the case of an accident resulting in the injury or death of any person, the driver of a vehicle which for any reason obstructs the regular flow of traffic on the of any state shall make every reasonable effort to move the vehicle or have it moved so as not to block the regular flow of traffic.

2. Prior to January 1, 1999, any person who fails to comply with the requirements of this section shall be issued a written warning of the violation in to inform such persons of the requirements of this section. Beginning January 1, 1999, any person who fails to comply with the requirements of this section is guilty of an infraction and, upon thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty dollars.
