Fire-fighting equipment exempt from size restrictions
Fire trucks and other firefighting vehicles do not have to follow the normal rules about how tall, wide, or long a vehicle can be. This also applies when a company that makes or sells fire trucks is driving one to show it off or deliver it to a fire department.
304.172. Fire-fighting equipment from size . — The of sections 304.170 to 304.240 relating to height, width, and length restrictions for motor vehicles shall not apply to any motor vehicle and its attached apparatus which is designed for use and used by a fire , or or when being operated by a fire apparatus or sales organization for the purpose of sale, demonstration, exhibit, or to a fire department, fire protection district or volunteer fire protection association.
