Reduction of maximum weight by highways and transportation commission

When roads get soft from melting frost, rain, or new construction, the state highways and transportation commission can lower the weight limit for trucks and other heavy vehicles on those roads. The commission has to post notices along the affected roads to let people know about the lower weight limits.

304.210. Reduction of maximum weight by — notice. — Whenever by reason of thawing of frost, or rains, or due to new construction the roads are in a soft condition, the maximum weights on all vehicles mentioned in section 304.180, including trucks, tractors, trailers and and other vehicles therein mentioned may be limited by the to such an amount and in such manner as will preserve the road under such conditions; and said shall give due notice thereof by notices at convenient and public places along said road or roads or parts thereof which are subject to said regulations and reduction of weights.
