Observance of lane

When traffic lights are placed above individual lanes on a road, drivers in those lanes must follow the signals. A green light above a lane means traffic can use that lane. A red light above a lane means no one is allowed to enter or drive in that lane.

304.311. Observance of lane — direction — control signals. — When are placed over the individual lanes of a street or , may travel in any lane over which a green signal is shown, but shall not enter or travel in any lane over which a red signal is shown.
