Unauthorized signal devices prohibited
No one is allowed to put up fake or unofficial traffic signs or signals on or near a road. No one can put up a traffic sign that has an ad on it unless the state transportation commission says it is okay. Signs on private property next to a road are allowed if they just give directions and do not look like official signs. Any sign that breaks these rules is considered a public nuisance.
304.321. Un al devices prohibited — trafficway not to be used for signs — s declared. — 1. No person shall place, maintain or display upon or in view of any any unauthorized sign, signal, marking or device which to be or is an imitation of or resembles an or railroad sign or signal, or which attempts to direct the movement of traffic, or which hides from view or interferes with the effectiveness of an official traffic-control device or any railroad sign or signal.
