This law explains what certain words mean for the rules about construction zones. A 'construction zone' or 'work zone' is any area on or near a road that is marked off because workers are doing construction, repairs, or other temporary work there — including the stretch of road leading up to that area where signs are posted. A 'worker' or 'highway worker' is anyone doing work in that zone, any state transportation employee helping drivers on a state road, or any utility worker doing utility work on or near a state road. A 'utility worker' is someone who works for a company that provides services like gas, electricity, water, or phone lines.
