Result of election
If voters in a city vote against selling strong alcohol (over 5% alcohol by weight) by the drink in bars or restaurants, then no one in that city is allowed to sell, give away, or trade that kind of alcohol for people to drink there on the spot. The only exception is that weaker drinks like beer with 5% alcohol or less can still be sold, as long as the seller has the proper license.
311.150. Result of — unfavorable vote. — If a majority of the votes cast on the question held under the of this chapter shall be against the sale of containing alcohol in excess of five percent , where sold, it shall not be lawful for any person within the limits of such incorporated city to, directly or indirectly, sell, give away or in any manner whatever intoxicating liquor, by the drink at retail for consumption on the premises where sold, except , containing alcohol not to exceed five percent by weight, under proper , in any quantity whatever, under the penalties prescribed in this chapter.
