Interference with or avoidance of a civil investigative demand prohibited, penalty
When someone gets an official legal demand to share information with the government, they have to follow it. If a person tries to get around that demand by hiding, destroying, changing, or faking any documents or evidence, that person has committed a crime called a class A misdemeanor. The attorney general is the one in charge of making sure this law is followed.

407.080. Interference with or avoidance of a prohibited, — to . — A person upon whom a civil investigative demand is the of section 407.040 shall comply with the terms thereof unless otherwise provided by an of a court. Any person who, with intent to avoid, evade, or prevent , in whole or in part, with any civil investigative demand issued under section 407.040, removes from any place, conceals, withholds, or destroys, , alters, or by any other means falsifies any , , or physical evidence in the possession, or control of any person, which is the subject of any such civil investigative demand shall be guilty of a .
