Grants of rents good without attornment of tenants
When a landlord transfers ownership of rent or property to someone else, that transfer is valid even if the tenants never agreed to it. However, if a tenant pays rent to the original landlord before finding out about the transfer, that tenant is not in trouble for making that payment.
441.140. of rents good without of s. — Grants of rents, or of lands, , estates, terms, reversions or remainders section 441.130 or section 535.070 shall be good and shall be effective without the of the tenants; unless otherwise stated in the lease; but no tenant, who, before notice of the , pays the rent to the , shall suffer any damage for such payment.
