Power of attorney
A parent who is being deployed to military service can give their power to care for a child to another adult who is not a parent. This is only allowed if the other parent has no legal rights to the child, or if a court has ordered that the other parent cannot see the child. The deploying parent can cancel this arrangement at any time by signing a paper that takes it back.
452.1220. . — A , by power of attorney, may delegate all or part of to an adult for the period of if no other parent possesses custodial responsibility under law of this state other than sections 452.1200 to 452.1258, or if a currently in effect prohibits contact between the child and the other parent. The deploying parent may the power of attorney by signing a of the power.
