Authorization by court to sell property

If a married person's spouse leaves them or fails to support them due to laziness, drinking, or other reasons, a court in that person's county can give them permission to sell their property. This includes land and personal belongings that came to them through the marriage and are still in Missouri.

452.190. by court to sell property. — When any married person shall abandon his or her spouse, or from worthlessness, drunkenness or other cause fail to make sufficient for his or her support, the of the county where he or she has his or her home and residence may, on his or her , authorize him or her to sell and his or her , or any part thereof, and also any which shall, at the time, have come to such person by reason of the marriage, and which may remain within the state undisposed of by him.
