Judgment of dissolution, grounds for

In plain English

A Missouri court gives a divorce when both spouses (or one of them) have lived in Missouri for 90 days, 30 days have passed since the divorce was filed, and the marriage is permanently broken with no chance of saving it. The court also has to figure out child custody, child support, spousal support, and who gets the property before finalizing things. If the court thinks the marriage might still be saved, it can issue a legal separation instead. Being pregnant does not stop a divorce or legal separation from happening. The final paperwork must include the last four digits of each person's Social Security number.
