Noncustodial parent's right to receive child's school progress reports

In plain English

A parent who does not have custody of a child can ask the child's school for progress reports, report cards, and deficiency slips. The parent pays a small fee to cover the school's costs. This does not apply if that parent has been denied visitation rights by a court. If the noncustodial parent has a history of domestic violence or abuse, a court can order that the school records not show the address of the custodial parent or child.
