In plain English

When someone wants to change a child custody order, they have to file paperwork that is officially sworn to be true. If the original custody case started in Missouri, the new paperwork gets filed in that same case. Everyone involved — including the parents and anyone the child lives with — must be properly notified. After being notified, those people have 30 days to file a sworn written response (45 days if they were notified by newspaper publication). If someone lives outside Missouri, they get notified under a different rule.
