Employer's compliance with two or more income withholding orders
If a boss gets more than one order to take money out of a worker's paycheck for child support, the boss follows the rules of whatever state the worker mainly does their job in. Those state rules decide which order gets paid first and how the money is split. As long as the boss follows those state rules, they have done what the law requires.
454.1617. Employer's with two or more orders. — If an 's employer receives two or more income withholding orders with respect to the earnings of the same obligor, the employer satisfies the terms of the orders if the employer complies with the law of the state of the obligor's to establish the priorities for and allocating income withheld for two or more child support .
