Foreign support agreement
When someone has a child support agreement from another country, a Missouri court will honor and enforce it if it gets registered in Missouri. To register it, the person needs to bring the full written agreement and proof that it is treated as a valid support order in the country where it came from. A Missouri court can refuse to honor the agreement if it goes against Missouri's basic values and laws, if it was gotten through fraud, if it conflicts with another support order already in place, or if the paperwork seems fake or tampered with. If the agreement is being challenged or appealed in another country or state, Missouri has to pause its process and wait.
