If someone says they don't owe any child support, the state child support office will look into it. If the office agrees that nothing is owed, they cannot take money from that person's paycheck or bank account. If child support does become owed later, the office can start collecting again. A person can also ask the office to explain how much they owe and how that number was figured out.
