When people disagree about a deceased person's will or estate, they can reach a deal to settle the disagreement. If a court approves that deal, it is binding on everyone involved — even people who were not yet born, could not be found, or were unknown at the time. The deal does not hurt the rights of people owed money or government tax agencies that were not part of the agreement.
