When someone is in charge of a dead person's estate, they make a list of what that person owned (an inventory). That list can be used in court, but it is not the final word. Other proof can be brought in to show the list is wrong or incomplete.
473.253. as evidence. — Inventories and appraisements may be given in evidence, but are not for or against any or , but other evidence may be introduced to vary the effect thereof.
