Disposition of valueless or encumbered property

Random law
In plain English

If a piece of property — like land or a personal item — is worth nothing or has so many debts tied to it that it doesn't help the estate, a court can give the person in charge of the estate permission to get rid of it. The court decides the best way to handle it, which could mean giving it away to heirs, throwing it away, destroying it, or simply walking away from it.
