Hearing and disposition of claims

A court decides when to hold hearings on money claims made against a deceased person's estate. The court sets its own rules for scheduling these hearings. In most cases, a hearing cannot be scheduled until at least 20 days after the person in charge of the estate has been notified about the claim.

473.413. and of — notice. — Each court may provide by for the time and notice of hearing and disposition of claims filed therein or may set any individual or claims for hearing irrespective of rule. Except when ordered by the court or upon agreement of the parties the time for hearing of any claim shall not be at any time before the expiration of twenty days after notice thereof has been on the .
