If someone's will says not to sell their property or certain items, those things are kept and not sold — unless the money is needed to pay debts or to support a surviving spouse or young children. Items left to specific people in a will are especially protected and can only be sold in very limited situations.
473.467. Reservation of property under direction of — reserved. — 1. If any directs that his or any specific part or parts thereof be not sold, the same shall be reserved unless such sale is necessary for the payment of or to or .
2. Specific devises shall not be sold in any case unless necessary in accordance with section 473.620.
