Time for complete settlement or filing of statement of account
When someone is put in charge of handling a dead person's estate on their own (called an independent personal representative), they have one year to either wrap up the estate officially or file a financial report. If they don't do one of those things in time, a court can step in — either on its own or because someone else asks — and order that person to finish closing the estate or ask for more time.
