Distribution in kind

Random law
In plain English

When a dead person's belongings are handed out, the person in charge of the estate signs a paper proving who now owns each item. Once someone receives that paper or gets paid their share, it is solid proof they now own that part of the estate. However, if something was handed out by mistake, the person who got it has to give it back — or pay back its value plus any money it earned — unless too much time has passed or a court already settled the matter.
