Posthumous children to inherit

In plain English

If a person dies without a will and later a child or grandchild is born after that person's death, that child can still inherit as if they had been born before the person died. But other relatives can only inherit if they were already born and legally able to inherit at the time the person died.

474.050. to . — All posthumous children, or , of the shall inherit in like manner, as if born in the lifetime of the intestate; but no to any person other than the children or descendants of the intestate, unless they are born and capable in law to take as at the time of the intestate's death.
