If a law promises a reward to someone who reports or sues over a violation, that person only has one year from when the violation happened to file their lawsuit. After that one year is up, it is too late.
516.380. Actions on penal s to be brought in one year. — All actions and suits, upon any statute, for any or given in whole or in part to any person who for the same, shall be within one year after the , and not after.
