A radio or TV station, and its workers, cannot be sued for a harmful statement made by a political candidate on air, as long as the station was not legally allowed to edit or control what the candidate said because of federal law or FCC rules.
537.105. Radio station not for defamation, when. — The owner, or of a visual or sound radio broadcasting station or network of stations, or the agents or employees of such owner, licensee or operator of such a station or network of stations, shall not be liable for any for any uttered over the facilities of such station or network by or on behalf of any candidate for public office where such statement is not subject to or control by reason of any federal or any ruling or of the made pursuant .
