Failure to pay agreed damages

If a railroad company agrees to pay someone for damages but then doesn't pay, the railroad has to pay that person twice the amount they originally agreed on. The person can take the railroad to court to get that money.

537.290. Failure to pay agreed . — If any railroad , fail or refuse to pay the owner or his the damage or damages agreed upon, as provided in section 537.280, then the railroad shall be to the owner in double the amount of damage or damages agreed upon, to be recovered in any .
