If someone thinks a drover (a person who drives animals) took their cattle or other animals, they can swear an oath saying so and give a bond (a money guarantee). After doing that, a court can issue a legal order to seize the animals the drover is currently moving, plus their other property. The case then moves forward like other lawsuits, and the person can try to recover damages under the related law.
537.310. Proceedings under section 537.300. — In any under section 537.300, a may against the s upon the stating, on , that he believes some one or more of his cattle or other stock has been driven off by a , and that he believes the same to be of a certain value, to be on the ; and the proceedings thereon shall be the same as in other actions commenced by summons; provided, however, that no shall be taken to the form of the oath aforesaid, and that upon such , and the of a by plaintiff, as now required under proceedings by for the amount stated in said affidavit, he shall also be entitled to an attachment against the horses, cattle, , hogs, sheep or other animals which defendant or defendants are then so driving, and also against their , and may proceed, under said attachment, to recover all given to plaintiff under section 537.300.
