Liability for damage or destruction of field crop products, when
If someone on purpose damages or destroys a farm crop — whether it was grown to sell, for personal use, or for research — that person owes double the normal damages. If someone accidentally damages or destroys a crop, that person only owes the actual money lost. The court figures out damages by looking at what the crop was worth and what it cost to grow or replace it. The court can also make the person pay court costs and lawyer fees.
