If someone on purpose sets fire to woods, marshes, or prairies and that fire causes damage to someone else, the person who started the fire has to pay the injured person twice the amount of the damage. It does not matter if the land belonged to the person who started the fire or not.
537.400. for fires. — If any person shall set on fire any woods, marshes or prairies whether his own or not, so as thereby to occasion any damage to any other person, such person shall make in double damages to the injured, to be recovered by .
