If someone builds a structure across a stream in Missouri to hold logs or wood, and that structure causes flooding or water backup on nearby land, the builder has to pay for any damages that result. If a court rules in favor of the person who was harmed, the builder also has to pay that person's lawyer fees.
537.410. for caused by across stream — . — Every , person or who shall construct a boom across or in any of the streams or waters of this state shall be for all damages arising from backwater or overflow caused by the of such boom or the accumulation of logs, lumber or other therein, and in all cases where is rendered in any court for any damages as herein provided, the court shall allow the a reasonable attorney's fee, to be in the case.
