Tenant for life or years liable for treble damages for waste

If someone rents or has use of a property for a set time or for their lifetime, they are not allowed to damage or destroy any part of it. If they do cause that kind of damage without written permission, they can be sued. As punishment, they lose the part of the property they damaged and have to pay three times the value of the damage done.
