Check kiting
Check kiting is when someone tries to steal money from a bank by writing a bad check, then covering it with another bad check. Both checks are written on accounts that don't have enough real money in them. This is a class E felony, which is a serious crime.

570.220. — defined — . — 1. A person commits the of check kiting if he or she, with , obtains money from a by drawing a check against an account in which there is not sufficient collected funds to pay the check and, he or she to cover that check by ing in such account another check drawn against insufficient collected funds.

For purposes of this section, the term "collected funds" means that portion of a deposit account representing checks and other credits as to which the has directly and affirmatively that payment has been made or, in the alternative, with respect to checks as to which at least ten business days have elapsed, without of the checks, since presentation for payment.
