If a sheriff still has old records of permits to buy handguns, those records are kept secret from the public. The only way those records can be shared is if a court order related to a criminal investigation requires it.

571.093. Certain s closed to the public. — If any sheriff retains records of permits to obtain issued under former section 571.090, as repealed by senate bills nos. 62 and 41 of the ninety-fourth , then such records shall be closed to the public. No such record shall be made available for any purpose whatsoever unless its is mandated by a valid relating to a criminal investigation.
