Duty to carry permit

If someone has a Missouri lifetime or extended concealed carry permit, they need to keep it on them whenever they are carrying a hidden gun. If a police officer asks to see it, the person must show both the permit and a photo ID from a state or federal government. Not doing this is not a crime, but the person can be given a ticket with a fine of up to $35.

*571.230. Duty to carry — display of permit, when — for violation. — Any person issued a Missouri lifetime or extended under sections 571.205 to 571.230, shall carry the permit at all times the person is carrying a concealed firearm and shall display the permit and a state or federal government-issued photo identification upon the request of any . Failure to comply with this section shall not be a criminal but the Missouri lifetime or extended concealed carry permit may be issued a citation for an amount not to exceed thirty-five dollars.
