Delivery of a controlled substance
This law covers giving, selling, or sharing illegal drugs without permission. A person breaks this law by handing off drugs, trying to hand them off, having drugs with a plan to hand them off, or letting a minor buy or carry drugs. The punishment is usually a class C felony, but it is a class B felony (more serious) when drugs are given to someone under 17 who is at least 2 years younger than the person giving them, or when a minor is allowed to buy or carry the drugs. Giving 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid is a lower class E felony, unless it goes to someone under 17 who is at least 2 years younger, which makes it a class C felony.
