Possession of methamphetamine precursors

This law is about having chemicals used to make meth or similar drugs. If someone has those chemicals and plans to use them to make drugs, that is a crime. Having more than 24 grams of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine is treated as automatic proof that the person planned to break this law, unless they are a doctor or have a legitimate business reason for having it. Breaking this law is a class E felony, which is the least serious type of felony in Missouri.

579.110. Possession of methamphetamine precursors — . — 1. A person commits the of possession of methamphetamine precursors if he or she possesses one or more chemicals listed in 2 of section 195.400, , , or any other chemicals proven to be precursor ingredients of methamphetamine or amphetamine, as established by expert , with the intent to , compound, convert, produce, , prepare, test, or otherwise alter that chemical to create a or a in violation of this chapter or chapter 195.

2. Possession of more than twenty-four grams of or shall be of intent to violate this section. This subsection shall not apply to any or to any product possessed in the course of a business.
