Electronic transmission of messages relating to public business, requirements
When a government official sends an electronic message about government business to enough other members that a majority of the group is included, that official must also send a copy of that message to either their work computer or the person in charge of keeping records. Those saved messages count as public records, which means most people can ask to see them.
610.025. Electronic transmission of messages relating to public business, requirements. — Any member of a who transmits any message relating to public business by shall also transmit that message to either the member's public office computer or the in the same format. The of this section shall only apply to messages sent to two or more members of that body so that, when counting the sender, a majority of the body's members are copied. Any such message received by the or at the member's office computer shall be a subject to the exceptions of section 610.021.
