Director to develop rules for health and veterinary care for animals in custody and facilities of licensees
The state director makes rules about how animals must be kept healthy and cared for by licensed animal businesses. Those businesses have to keep records of vet care given to animals, and show those records to state officials when asked. If rules are made for animal pounds, those rules cannot force the pound to build new buildings or do major construction.
273.346. to develop rules for health and veterinary care for animals in and facilities of — records to be kept — , major construction not to be required. — 1. The director shall for an adequate program of health and veterinary care which shall be maintained for all animals in the custody of persons and facilities subject to sections 273.325 to 273.357, except pounds or dog pounds. Records of veterinary services provided to such animals shall be maintained and made available to the or an upon request.
2. Any such rules to cover pounds or dog pounds shall not require or be applied so as to require the construction of any new buildings or major reconstruction of any beyond the scope of normal upkeep and repair.
