Deductions from wages, agreement to be written, approval of public body required
Contractors on public jobs must pay workers their full wages in cash, with no money taken out for things like food, housing, rides, or tools. The only exception is if the worker and employer both sign a written agreement at the start of the job that allows those deductions — and the government agency in charge of the contract looks at that agreement and says it is fair.
