If a contractor or subcontractor breaks certain Missouri wage laws and gets convicted, the state puts their name on a list with the secretary of state. Once on that list, that contractor cannot work on any public construction projects for one year after a first conviction, or three years after each additional conviction. No government body is allowed to hire a contractor whose name is on that list.
