Actions to be instituted in circuit court

If someone wants to sue over a pay fairness violation, they have to file the lawsuit in circuit court within six months of when the violation happened. Also, an employer only has to pay back wages for up to 30 days before they received written notice of the complaint from the female employee.

Word-for-word law

290.450. s to be instituted in — limitations. — Any action based upon or arising under sections 290.400 to 290.450 shall be instituted in the circuit court within six months after the date of the , but in no event shall any employer be for any pay due under sections 290.400 to 290.450 for more than thirty days prior to receipt by the employer of thereof from the female employee.
